- Store in containers to prevent dust collection. Choose proper storage containers according to your decorations;
- Discard any decorations which have not been used;
- Choose transparent or coloured containers, so next year you can easily see the contents or find the box;
- Disregard any decorations which might have got damaged;
- Start taking down decorations room by room;
- If some decorations are specific to room, best is to store those decorations together in one container;
- Store your decorations either by category or by room;
- Breakable decorations wrap them bubble wrap or else place some soft material around them (for example wrap a Christmas table runner around the item);
- Once all decorations are down, store in your chosen containers and label them.
- Store everything in a safe place
The first couple of days, the house might seem bare but this would be the right time to start decluttering.
