How to stay organised during the Festive Season

The excitement of the festive season is kicking in!!! However, we all can feel overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done.  In the running up, we are bombared from months before to spend more and fit as much activities as we can.  But how can you stay organized with all this information?

First of all, let’s all be grateful for what we have and the possibility of sharing it with friends and family.

We should not forget how Christmas 2020 was and the struggles we had because we couldn’t meet our loved ones.

Let’s jump into how to organize and plan for Christmas.

1. Gift Wish List

The sooner you start on this one the better.  Pay careful attention to what your kids, family members and friends need or hint they would like during the months preceding Christmas.  This list will help, with giving gifts that a truly appreciated by the receiver and would unlikely convert to clutter.

2. Make a budget for gifts

The gift list helps you budget for your Christmas presents.  Keep a look out for when a particular item on the gift list goes on sale and take advantage. Be careful with over spending, therefore if it helps taking cash when buying gifts then be it.

3. Set a budget for food & drinkeading Text Here

When setting the budget, take into consideration if you are hosting or if you would be spending more time at home.  Shopping online is a great way to help you stay on budget…but always keep an eye on the total.

4. Meal Plan

Meal plan is important all year around, but even more during the festive season.  Plan your meals carefully, including snacks and party food.  If you are hosting, take into consideration that you might have some leftovers and have a plan for them.

Review your meal plan as you go along.

5. Meal Timings

Depending when you are hosting, make a plan for preparing the meal.  This way you will know that you have all the ingredients and not stress too much on the day. Prepare the menu in advance and what needs to be prepared together with timings.  When preparing your timings always move backwards.  Start with the time when lunch / dinner will be served and move backwards…this will give you an idea of at what time you start preparing the food.

6. Gift Wrapping

Gifts are sorted and need to be wrapped, but it’s Christmas Even and you ran out of wrapping.

Don’t leave it to the last minute.  Wrap your gifts as soon as possible, so you don’t get caught without supplies.  Identify a place where to hide the gifts.

The Christmas period should not be stressful.  Enjoy the time with your family and don’t dwell too much if things go not as planned.

Love
