Summer Fun Kids Activities on a Budget

Summer Fun Activities on A Budget

Only a couple of weeks until schools are out…let the summer holidays begin.  The enthusiasm of the first couple of days of the summer holidays soon fizzles out.  As parents we struggle to keep kids entertained throughout the holidays, whilst the kids get bored easily.  Let’s face it…going places everyday can have a toll on your finances so in this blog post will share some fun kids activities on a budget.

As the summer holidays approach I start preparing the ‘I’M BORED JAR’ .  It is simply a jar filled with Popsicle sticks with an activity written on it which could range from doing a house chore to going to the beach.  Every time your child says I’m bored he gets to pick up a Popsicle stick and do what is written on it.

Let’s jump into other activities that you can do on a budget (

1. WATER BALLOON FIGHT

There is nothing more refreshing than a water balloon fight during the hot summer days.  You only need to buy a few water balloons and let the kids have a water balloon fight on your roof or garden.

2. ICE BLOCK TREASURE HUNT

Kids will love this!!!!

Just grab some plastic toys and put in a plastic bowl filled with water.  Let it freeze and then when it’s time for the treasure hunt, set it outside and let your kids break the ice to find the treasure inside.

3. LEMONADE STAND

Hot summer days call for fresh lemonade.  Organise a BBQ at home and let your kids set up a lemonade stand for you and your guests.  Checkout this recipe for an awesome lemonade.

4. AT HOME MOVIE NIGHT

There will be days that all you want to do is chill on the sofa, under an air condition…so why not organise a home movie night.  If you are able to move the TV outside it is even better.

Prepare some popcorn, a snack board with the food you would like to have at movies.

5. BUILD A MARSHMALLOW AND TOOTHPICK BUILDING

Let your kids design their own 3D building because let’s be honest sometimes it’s too hot to spend time outside and all you want to do is stay inside in the air condition.

Checkout how to build a marshmallow and toothpick building.

Summers can be tough to entertain your kids, but if you plan in advance you can have a mixture of low budget activities.
