5 Vinegar uses around the House

Cleaning bottles
Vinegar has many benefits, and has many uses around the house.  It is natural and an inexpensive way to clean without using harsh chemicals.

Here are 5 uses of vinegar around the house:

1. vINEGAR AS AN ALL PURPOSE CLEANER

Vinegar is an all purpose cleaner .  In a spray bottle just mix 1:1 vinegar:water solution.  You can use this mixture practically everywhere in your home, although you have to be careful on wood.  In particular, I like to clean the fridge with vinegar so to avoid chemicals coming in touch with food.  But you can use it to clean your countertops, bathrooms and bathroom fixtures.

2. vINEGAR TO WASH TOWELS AND KITCHEN TOWELS

Towels

Towels (whether bathroom or kitchen towels) can easily get a nasty smell.  Wash a load of towels in hot water with 1 cup of vinegar – don’t use any detergent or softener.   Then was again with 1/2 cup of baking soda (again no detergent or softener).  Dry the towels as usual.  This method freshens the towels and any smells disappear.

For dish towels boil water in a large pot with 1 cup vinegar.  Put the dish towels and let soak overnight and then wash per usual.

3. Vinegar to wash you fruit and vegetables

Fruit and vegetables

Just fill in half your sink with half cup of vinegar and water.  Let your fruit and vegetables soak in.

4. Clean you washing machine

Wahing Machine

It’s no secret that soap residue builds up inside your washing machine, which eventually can get onto your clothes.  Once a month run the washing machine with 1 cup of vinegar, without any clothes.  This helps remove any soap residue.

5. remove hem lines

Hem Lines
Kids get tall pretty quickly, and sometimes just putting down the hem works fine.  However, when you let hems down, there is often a mark.  Place a moisten white cloth with vinegar under the fabric and press – this will get rid of those hem lines.  Make sure you choose the right ironing temperature and use a pressing cloth on top of the fabric too.
