Strugglingmum prepares for Kinder

Strugglingmum is preparing for the February intake for kinder and with me, many other mothers out there.  Am I prepared?  Well, from a practical point of view i.e. stationary and childcare gifts yes but from an emotional point of view no.

  • Stationery and school bagIMG_0010

As soon as I had in hand the stationery list, I went and started purchasing the necessary items.  The expense is not exorbitant as mostly is craft supplies and to be honest was not requested that many items.  As far as the school bag is concerned, I did not go all fancy as the only things he would be keeping is his lunch, water bottle and communication notebook.

  • Childcare gift

My son had been attending childcare since he was a baby.  Inevitably a strong bond has been built through out the years with the carers and the management of the childcare.  I must say, that they are very dedicated people and love the children as if they were theirs.

They have seen my son grow, achieving his milestones just as us parents so I wanted to give them something special that would make them remember my son.  So, went to my favourite shop – TheTinkShop to get this sign made.

  • Emotionally

Emotionally, I am not prepared at all.  Despite attending childcare since a baby, the transition to school is somewhat different.  It now struck me that he is no longer a baby and he is getting more independent each and every day.  I had gone through it, with my daughter however at the time, I felt that she was more ready for school than he is.  It is an awkward feeling, and I know many mothers out there are going through these mixed feelings, especially if it’s your first child or if your child never attended childcare.

Letting go is not easy and if we could we would spy them from behind the window.  We might be shocked at we see…..they are actually having fun without us!!!!

Goodluck to all those starting school next week…..especially to the mamas.

Love
