Using YouTube to keep kids entertained

YouTube

With schools closed, every parents’ dilemma is how to keep kids occupied. My two resources to get inspiration are Pinterest and YouTube.  With YouTube I find it easier because I can follow easily.  So I decided to share with you some YouTube channels (even local ones) to help you keep your kids entertained and also yourself as well.

These are tough days but will get through and we have to make out the best of it, by spending quality time with our family.

I highly recommend that you prepare a schedule for your kids and to continue with school work.  However, you can make it interactive using YouTube channels.  I am following my daughter’s timetable and apply to my 4 yr old too by adapting to age appropriate activities.  Teachers will be sending us some work that can be done as well, however school is not only academics but also physical education, arts & crafts and science.

Do kids yoga instead of physical education

Now that we are confined most of the time at home, the family’s physical exercise is limited or non-existent.  Therefore it is very important to do some form of exercise at home.  No equipment is required.  Find a convenient space and start.

To make it easier for you, I found two YouTube channels that you and your kids can do together or alone.  Why not try yoga and mindfuless designed for children!!! You can join too.

I have included also a local fitness YouTube channel.  Check out  DNG Fitness website.

ARTS AND CRAFTS

Let face it, not all children love  crafts and not all love drawing. However I in order to keep in line with activities done at school, you can include art & crafts session in your routines.  I am including two YouTube channels (one for drawing and the other for crafts) that are good for different age groups.

For the Crafts YouTube channel I have chosen again a local one A Bird with a French Fry.  Loridana has so much creativity and is also a lovely mum.

Baking

Baking is the most popular thing to do when stuck at home with kids.  You can find plenty of recipes online but during this time, you need easy recipes with little ingredients.

Science for Kids

Another topic taught at school is science, however you might not have items to do experiments at home so watching fun YouTube videos explaining science concepts is an alternative way.

However I have also included a channel that not only does science experiments (should you have things on hand) but other crafts.

Declutter and reorganize your home

Whilst the kids are entertained why not take this opportunity to declutter and reorganize your home.  There won’t be another time where you would have so much time on your hand.  You can check out my YouTube Channel for inspiration.

Hope you found this blog post useful.
