As the start of school is approaching, I want to make sure that I have systems in place to help me stay on top of things.

This year I decided to make a DIY Dry Erase Family Calendar instead of the usual wall calendar. I will still use my planner, however with the Family Calendar clearly visible, I hope that all the Family (including the children), know of the activities going on.

Although I am not very good at DIY, I think it came pretty good and serves the purpose. I am sure that many of you can make it better.

Here is what you need:

  • Picture frame – I bought my frame from Tal-Lira for Eur15 and does not have a frame. I would recommend that you find one that has a frame as it is easier to open and close;
  • Scissors or paper cutter;
  • Colored card board (kartoncin – considered using tissue paper but did not work out);
  • Glue;
  • Marker

Start by:

  • Removing the frame and turn the picture that comes with it so you have white blank page;
  • Depending on the size of your frame, cut the colored card board so as to have 7 columns (one for each day of the month) and 5 rows (for each week of the month);
  • Place them on the picture frame and once happy with the position glue them in place;
  • At the top either write or print days of the weeks;
  • Close the frame, turn and write the month & your appointments on the glass;
  • Hang it where it is visible to all the family;
  • Once the month is over clean and use again for the next month.

It you do not want to use colored card board, you can draw the lines – just make sure that the boxes are equally distributed.
