The Groceries Saga continues….

If you are reading this post, then congratulations you have survived grocery shopping your kids (Grocery shopping and Kids). You are now back home and it’s time to put everything away but not before the kids have rummaged through what was bought and start munching on something.

First all, how much did I spend?  The total cost came to Eur215. Meal planning does help me keep the budget low, however the cost does not cover any meat and fresh fruit and vegetables.  Going to the supermarket with a shopping list (after having meal planned…check my other post Meal Planning) does help prevent from impulse buying.  Having a grocery list, does not mean that I won’t buy food which is not on the shopping list especially if there is an offer.

As soon as I am home, I take everything out.  Storing food in their original packaging takes a lot of space and isn’t visually appealing.  So I take out all the boxed food such as pasta, cereal and breadcrumbs and store in clear glass or plastic containers.

All containers are labeled and if something has specific cooking instructions, I would cut the instructions and stick to the back of the container.  This method not only saves space but visually looks more organized and can easily identify those items which you are running low on.

In the meantime, the kids are happily playing (messing up the living room) because they would do anything else, rather than helping mummy put things away.

Love
