Does Christmas stress you out? Would you like a stress free Christmas? The secret is to start planning from now and less stress you’ll have during the last few weeks before Christmas . So here are some tips how to have a stress free Christmas but you have to start now:
- Make Lists
Make two lists – one for gifts and a guest list if you are going to entertain. These lists will help you stay on track and not forget anyone during your Christmas shopping. Christmas Planner
- Set a Budget
Once your lists have been completed, set a budget and stick to it.
- Determine your whereabouts during Christmas Holidays
It might seem too early, but establish whether you would be spending Christmas with family or traveling. Determine whether you would be hosting or if you are being invited at family. Make the necessary booking arrangements if you are traveling.
- Declutter
In the coming weeks, your home will welcome many items, such as decorations, gifts and guests. Make sure you have space for new items. It is expected – if you have children – new toys will come in during the festivities, so make sure you have where to store them. Remember, if something was not used during the last year, it is very unlikely that you will use it.
- Plan your Menu
Start planning you menu. Identify any guests who have special dietary requirements. Find time to test out your recipes. If there are any items, that freeze well – such as cookie dough, take time now to prepare them.
- Stock up on Groceries
The menu has been drawn up, so start stocking your pantry and freezer. Order any specialty food.
- Christmas Shopping
Start your Christmas shopping, now that your gifts list has been established. During the year take note of any requests.
- Decorate your Home
Decorating your home can be daunting, but if you have decluttered you would not have as much to remove. - Organize your Kitchen
Make sure that your kitchen is well organized, especially if you are hosting. During the festive season, you will be spend more time in the kitchen, so avoid the frustration of not finding the right tools for your dishes. Take an inventory of your pots, cutlery and plates.
- A week before deep clean your house
Decorations will definitely look better in a clean house.
- A week before confirm your guest list
Reconfirm to your guest list, and the time they are expected to be at your house. Unfortunately, some guests might cancel last minute. If you have small children among your invites, make sure you have things to keep them entertained.
- A few days before buy fresh produce
This applies if you are hosting….a few days before buy your fresh produce. Do not leave it to the very last minute to avoid having to run from one shop to another, because your shop of choice has run out.
- Christmas Eve
Set the table on Christmas Eve. Prepare as much as you can for your Christmas Day lunch/dinner on Christmas Eve so you can enjoy your family on the day.
Prepare a timeline for the following day…..going backwards to make sure that by the time your guests arrive everything would be ready, and can enjoy the time with them.
Now that you have planned everything, just relax and enjoy the day. Hope these tips will help you have a stress free Christmas.
